Oregon State lands four-star WR over San Diego State

It has been a tough few months for Oregon State.

The Beavers found themselves without a league home amid the dissolution of the Pac-12 conference and then head coach Jonathan Smith was poached by Michigan State.

Those two major losses are something the scheduling agreement between OSU and the Mountain West can't fix, but maybe the latest recruiting news out of Corvallis, Oregon, can offer some hope to fans.

The Beavers recently added four-star wide receiver Jordan Anderson from Newport Beach, California.

Anderson chose the Beavers over San Diego State, with new head coach Trent Bray (who served as Smith's defensive coordinator) playing a major factor in the decision.

“It was a really tough decision but in the end, I just felt like Oregon State was the best all-around fit for me,” Anderson told 247Sports. “I like coach [Trent] Bray and believe in what he’s trying to build at Oregon State.

“I also like coach Gundy [Ryan Gunderson, OC] and coach Fense [Kefense Hynson, WR coach] and their plan for how they want to use me. I’m excited about what they’re planning to do on offense and I’m excited for this opportunity.”

Per the rankings, Anderson should be a good one for Oregon State. The 247Sports Composite Rankings consider him the No. 31 wideout in the country and the No. 18 recruit from the talent-rich state of California.
